Asia/Pacific [04/23/2009]
Asian shares make their first gains of the week. The Japanese beverage company Kirin’s bid for Australia’s second-largest brewer, Lion Nathan, helped to lift the mood on Asia-Pacific stock markets which rose for the first time this week.

SBUX Note: Break-out LONG

I've been watching SBUX - I had a short bias in this triangle consolidation and down-trend channel but today it made significant breakouts in 2 time-frames daily/weekly on both technicals.  The volume was supportive as well - took the signal long to follow my system. Will focus on the weekly close from here.

Asia/Pacific [04/22/2009]
Shares in Asia Pacific pulled back on Wednesday led by Hong Kong [Heng Seng Index: (-2.67%)], India [BSE Sensex: (-0.74%)], Australia [All Ordinaries: (-0.16)], Japan [Nikkei 225 Index: +0.18%], .

Shares in Asia Pacific pulled back on Wednesday, as investors worried about falling company profits and bigger losses. The International Monetary Fund’s warning that banks were likely to make further writedowns of billions of dollars of toxic assets also depressed the mood.

Australia's annual core inflation rate climbed higher than expected in the first quarter.

Japan's trade deficit widened less than expected on Wednesday.

China’s steel market is likely to remain weak and prices depressed until next year, the country’s biggest steel producer said on Tuesday, in what appeared to be a warning shot to mining companies in the midst of the annual iron ore price negotiations.
Wu Dongying, director of Baosteel’s Economics and Management Research Institute, said the Chinese steel industry “will remain in a valley and prices will fluctuate at a low level” in spite of Beijing’s Rmb4,000bn ($586bn) economic stimulus package, which is expected to boost steel demand in the second half.

Europe [7:30am EST]
European shares edge higher in choppy trade on Wednesday: UK [FTSE 100: (-0.36%)], France [CAC 40: (-0.04%)]  and Germany [DAX +0.11%].

Thursday, December 18, 2008

Trade Idea [GG-NYSE]

Spent some time on GG chart tonight - thought I'd share my views - here is a snap shot of what I see. Feel free to comment or ask questions.

------

Short GG @ or near 34-36 - current price developments:
i)price approached(ing) upper boundary of positive price channel in green
ii)resistance @ price level of ~34-36 - price attempted tp break out of this resistance on 2 occasions circled in gold
iii)possible price retrace to lower boundary of positive price channel

STOP:
break of 36

Counter Trade:
Break of the ~36 resistance would warrant a long into a price of 42 short-term
